I, too, believe that it is hardly worth it.  There are three possible
reasons that come to mind.  Each may be of different worth to an
individual.  1) sentimental reasons, 2) feel/handling of older
mechanical bodies, 3) need for no autowinder found on all newer
bodies.

Certainly the money spent can easily exceed the value of the camera.
It seems that about the only exception is the LX.  Even parts are
getting scarce for many of the bodies.  When that happens to the LX,
it, too may not be worth attempting to fix.
