Do I understand correctly that when using lenses designed for the 35mm frame the field of view through the viewfinder, and not just in the recorded image, will be 1.5 times what it would be on a film camera?

It doesn't matter if the lens was designed for APS-C, 35mm, 645, 6x7 or whatever. The focal length is what it is, and any lens of a particular focal length will have the same field of view on any particular format.

Pentax uses a smaller than 35mm film frame sized sensor, and so sees less of what the lens projects.
