I quite agree. And I have ample evidence here. In front of me on my desk at this moment I have a Pentax MX with an SMC-M 50.1.4 *and* a Sony A850 with a Super Multi-Coated Takumar 50/1.4 :) The viewfinder in the MX is indeed a bit larger, but the Sony wins on coverage, brightness and eyepoint.
