Another suggestion - probably better than the previous one.

Exiftool can extract jpgs using the command line.  Whether the PEF needs
to be readable I don't know but I just used it to extract a jpg from one
of my PEFs.


The command I used was:

exiftool IMGP0097.PEF -jpgfromraw -b > outputfile.jpg

This produced the full sized jpg (other command line options can be used
to extract the thumbnail and preview jpgs)
