The energizers won't last as long. They're not designed to. But if you put both in a flash and used it continuously until dead, you'd find the energizers (or most any conventional Nimh battery) would recharge the flash faster and deliver more flashes before dying than the eneloops. Leave the flash on your dresser, and the eneloops will outlast the energizers by a wide margin.
