trying to fit a lot of water into an increasingly small area I suppose. The Bristol Channel is a long thin wedge shape bounded by cliffs. At some points in that channel it is the second highest tide in the world apparently - twice as high as here in Greenwich, and I never cease to be amazed at the difference here between low and high tide.
