its definitely a TVR http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TVR_Grantura#Series_ I but
I don't know the exact model - I suspect an early version.
This shows a bulging hood -

A version of the TVR with a Ford 289 V8 was raced quite successfully in the
SCCA by one Mark Donohue.
