Hi,

this time next week I'll be in India <g>. It has more or less always
been impossible to get through Heathrow without having your film
x-rayed, but fortunately I've never had any problems with it, even
with ISO1600 film.

I used to carry everything through in ziploc bags, out of the film
cans, but I've never felt comfortable about travelling for however
many weeks with the leaders hanging out of the can - it doesn't feel
safe even though I've had no problems. However this time I've discovered
Eagle Creek half-cubes
(http://www.eaglecreek.com/pack-it_system/40151.html).
Each 1/2 cube will hold exactly 40 film tubs. There's a cut-away panel
covered with mesh so you can see inside and they are much tougher than
ziploc bags. Since the film is going to be x-rayed anyway there is no
particular advantage to using plastic bags and not taking the film tubs,
other than a slight increase in weight and bulk which imo is offset by
the convenience and safety.
