I just got the estimate from C.R.I.S. to repair my DA* 16-50's SDM motor: $229! :O
That's about a third of what I paid for the damn thing, and it was in for SDM repair just last winter! This is utter bullshit. I used the lens exactly twice between getting it fixed and discovering the AF wasn't working, and of course I discovered the problem after the repair warranty had expired. No piece of consumer electronics, camera lens or otherwise, should stop functioning from sitting on a shelf for five months. No piece of purported *high-end* (I'm assuming that's what the * means, right? Right.) consumer electronics should EVER perform this badly, ESPECIALLY not for the same problem twice! Shame on you, Pentax. Shame on you, too, C.R.I.S. You have both failed in dramatic fashion.
