I'm excited, and for the first time ever a camera has made me wet my pants.

Fuji just announce the price: US$1,000.

I'll say that again: One Thousand US Dollars.

Expected to start shipping in March 2011.

Lovely dream it is, though!

It is a touch pricey, and a low priority for my shooting needs. But if
it has the responsiveness I'm after, I'll put aside money for it as
the design and form factor is so useful for so many things. The open
LCD doesn't bother me ... I've never put a scratch on any of my
digital cameras' LCDs open or not.

Of course, buying something like this is even lower priority since the
G1+20/1.7 is basically the same size, same function ... and a more
versatile camera to boot at effectively half the price. It's just not
as pretty, doesn't have the Leica M style ergonomics and
optical/digital hybrid viewfinder.

Wants vs needs often battle. ;-)
