The K-7/K-5 are very handsome in a traditional boxy way.

Oh good. A special edition Leica M9. As opposed to those pedestrian M9's. ;-)

My problem here is that if I could afford the M9 I'd spend a bit more
and get the 645D. (I'm taking the pedestrian M9 here.) There are too
many ways to use Leica optics on other bodies and although the camera
is beautiful I've not heard that it is extraordinary performance wise.

It's a good trend though. Camera makers are starting to be concerned
about appearance, which is fine since it can usually be done with no
compromise elsewhere. Oddly, Pentax is part of this trend with the
colored DSLRs, although they are definitely chasing a different
demographic.

I'm excited, and for the first time ever a camera has made me wet my pants.

This would be the camera of my wet dreams:

Alas, I fear it will never be within my reach. But, price be
buggered, I'm glad that somebody still cares about making cameras
sexy. The last camera to similarly floor me with its looks was the
original Contax RTS way back in the 1970s, IIRC a Porsche design.
This Leica was styled by the chief designer at VW, for a very slight
family connection.

The last ~really~ sexy Pentax was the LX2000, although the MZ-S wasn't
bad looking.

Most DSLRs look lumpy and brutish to my eyes.
