There's an inherent handicap to looking online for photos taken with a
particular lens you're interested in buying: Hardly anyone is going to
post crappy pictures taken with a particular lens. I've taken some
very nice pictures with allegedly mediocre lenses, but I would hope
nobody gets into a bidding war on eBay for those lenses based on the
select photographs I've posted online.

Miserere's Law of Photographic Optics: All lenses are better than
99.9% of photographers.

All lenses are good when used within their limits. When buying more
expensive lenses all you're doing is pushing these limits further
away.
