Part of the speed factor is also your distance form the phone company's distribution station. I used to live farther from town & always got on at 33k, after I moved closer to town I usually get on at 49k, sometimes as low as 48k & rarely up to 51k. I think the speed variation from the same location is due to variations in line noise. -- David S.
