Agreed (particularly the LE models). I was thinking more like Sony and Olympus four-thirds. Zooms have gotten much better in the past 30 years. I used to have a Komuranon zoom that was rated as good as a prime lens back in the 1970's. The other zooms often lacked contrast because (I assume) all of the air/glass surfaces of their elements.
