I really want to travel light. And I'm strongly inclined to take the advice
given earlier and stick with one lens. [I think Cotty said to do it for six or
nine months, regardless of the situation] Being the amateur that I am, I'm most
concerned with working on exposure and sharpness, not with getting all the
opportunities.]

That said, I did ask your advice, and I am open to suggestions. So, I have an m
100/4 macro, an Albinar 135/2.8, and an a 70-210/4. And the guy who sold me the
p3n threw in a Vivitar 70-150/3.5.

I've been to Northern New Mexico, but this will be the first time for Arizona.
What you suggest is exactly what my Phoenix residing sister has in mind. She's
not a photographer, but she gets up to these places often.

A few years ago I had an opportunity to go to Russia. I took along my trusty
K1000. Another guy brought a Canon automatic. His shutter was constantly going
"kaching, kaching, kaching...." My shots were relatively infrequent. The group
got together a month or so after we got back home. The other guy and I brought
our slides. He went first. When my turn came, after I'd shown a few slides, one
of the Russian guys in the group said, "Ah, *he's* a photographer."

I'll take what I can get with what I've got in the situations that permit it.
Photo opportunities aside, the emphasis is going to be on family -- on getting
acquainted, going over history not previously shared, having fun, being nice.
But if I do get some good shots I imagine my sisters will want to have copies.
