(pick one: loyalty, humor, sarcasm, irony, ..),
for most models and categories, I wouldn't choose Pentax P&S.

For the most compact and lightweight ones, I'd go for Panasonic Lumix.
E.g. my wife's DMC-ZR1 is extremely small and light (she carries it in her
purse all the time, and sometimes even looses it in there), has
a reasonable zoom (25-200mm equiv.), and produces very acceptable
images. (It's ~1 year old; there are newer cameras in the same family.)

When I was reading various reviews on the compact P&S, I found that 
Lumix arguably took the leadership in that category. It used to be
Canon's Digital Elph (IXUS) a few years ago.
