I'm in the process of upgrading the firmware on my *ist DS. I've got the new firmware on the SD card. Instructions say to turn the camera on while holding the menu button down. At the point the LCD screen should show "NOW LOADING" and then change to "PROGRAM UPDATE," at which point the option of proceeding with the upgrade can be selected.
When I do that the screen displays the current version of the firmware -- in my case 1.0 -- and then goes dark. The shutter and aperture settings on the LCD panel on top of the camera flash for several seconds and then stops. Nothing else happens.
