Just make it "secure enough".  You don't need NSA level encryption or
27 character mixed case passwords.  Allow only the people that you
want access to the group, and change the password as needed if people
don't behave or someone leaves the group.

A private group on Flickr is easy enough to setup, and you can set it
so that only group members can see the pictures, and only group
members can see and participate in discussions.  Set it invite only,
and you can control access.  Accounts on Flickr are free for up to 200
pictures.
