I'll second the vote for Tamron SP 90/2.5 MF, and it has the advantage of
macro 1:2 or using the dedicated 2X converter, the lens becomes a 180/5
with 1:1 macro. The lens is very solid great to use excpet that it focuses
the "wrong way" cf Pentax. The vast majority of my photos are "family snaps"
and I've found over a period of time that it's the background, not the
person that will ruin a photo for me. That's where the tighter angle of the
90 has an advantage over shorter focal lengths. I now find myself spending
as much time finding the right angle for the "background" as I do for the
person themselves. However I don't use this lens any more, only because I've
now aquired a F100/2.8 Macro :))) which gives very similar results. You
should be able to aquire the 90 for USD $100-150 and the converter for $USD
40-60. Worth saving up for FWIW.
