I have a Sigma 100-300 f 4.5-6.7 which is not to bad if you have a bright background when fully zoomed.I find with a big greenish back ground the pictures are a bit dark and dull but if its a nice open background they look nice.Ithink it was $275.00 Can new last year.

This with a 50mm & 85mm account for 2/3rds of my shooting. If there was a SMC K, M or A zoom that went to 300mm I would get one, but as you all know there isn't. Any recommendations for an economical substitute? This will usually be mounted on my back up body, a K1000, so automation is not required. I was also considering tracking down a SMC 24-50, but it seems this is not a well liked lens. I have seen some "new in box" Vivitar S1 19-35s on eBay. Can anyone tell me about this lens or recommend something similar?
