Doubling the memory in it would probably make a big difference. I think it is
2gb. I'm a novice with Macs (I did all sorts of hardware upgrades on my first

most overcrowded mall in the metropolitan New Orleans area, so I would have to
walk half a mile wit a huge computer under my arm.
What I NEED to do is scour YouTube for a video on how to increase your memory
in a Mac.
it's rather simple in most Macs; many vendors supply step-by-step
instructions, or you can look somewhere like macfixit.com
you can also get a price range and the type of memory you need at
dealram.com (though its vendors are not the only choices)
memory is the first thing to try, but if your computer is 4 years old it
is right on the PowerPC/Intel cusp; if the former, you are going to hit
a wall with anything processor intensive, and with some of the early
Intel models too, especially when using something like Aperture which
likes to use the GPU a lot
