Hi, Bill
It's possible this problem to be caused by the extremely low temperatures
you live in, or this happened in more normal temperatures too?
Here, the coldest it goes is sometimes 5 C, never less.
Regards

Albano

Your English is fine. I never had problems with the QR plate not
releasing, but I had a lot of problems with the ball freezing to
the socket. Nothing I did was able to cure it.
It was sort of like sticky mirror on the LX. Once the head was
being used, it was mostly OK, just a bit notchy in the
adjustments, but if it sat for a while the thing would freeze
up.
I tried 4 different grease types to see if I could put a barrier
between the metals to keep them from bonding, but nothing
worked.
I disassembled the head and cleaned up the castings to see if I
could cure the notchiness, but was unable to resolve that issue
as well.
