Thanks, Paul. I have two points to make here.
1. Somehow K5 came up with much more realistic and pleasant colors. See e.g. the sky above the building.
2. These two pictures are closer than I thought in tonal variation. Likely because they are presented for the web.
I spoke to Julia and she wasn't at all against the upgrade. So, I am taking my measures to get rid of K7 and acquire K5. All subject to usual disclaimers of price, availability, etc.
