It's going to seem like a long work day, and I'll be humming the old
Rod Stewart ditty "Tonight's the Night" but not for the same reason as
he was: A couple of month's ago I found a beautiful Spotmatic with a
S-M-C 50mm f1.4 in original soft case at the thrift store for a song.
When I took the camera out of the case, etched professionally on the
bottom was the name and Soc. Sec. No. of a well-known Nebraska author.
I contacted him by email to let him know that his camera was in Good
Hands, and to ask if he happened to have any other lenses or
accessories gathering dust.

He expressed happiness that the camera was in good hands and waxed
nostalgic about where it had been with him (His work at the
Smithsonian, and on travels in Europe). He told me he had a number of
lenses for them, but feared that he had long ago gotten rid of them -
but said he would look (since he rarely throws anything away) and if
he found them that I could have them. Fast forward to a couple of
weeks ago and he emails me telling me that my patience has been
rewarded. He has 5 lenses AND another Pentax body!

I have no idea (at this point) what the lenses or body are and the
suspense is killing me. But I'll find out tonight!

As a result of my email we have enjoyed a nice email correspondence
and it looks like I'm going to be copying some very old (copyright
expired) woodcut prints from a 100+ year old folio for his next book
project about the artist, who spend a little time in Nebraska in 1870.
I'll let you know what's in the box tonight or tomorrow.
