okay, please describe the actual practice of collecting from small infringers, those with likely little or no cash reserves ...
to my understanding the only quick action one can take is a DMCA take-down notice, but i hate to do that because i hate the DMCA in general; i have notified a small blog that twice used a photograph of my father's; they placed his name on next to it, but no copyright notice, and didn't request permission (contact info was available where the took it from); i asked them to note the copyright and link to his website, but they didn't and never acknowledged my message; how would you propose my father's estate collect from this website?
(oh and by the way the images were made in the 1960s; i understand they have valid copyright, but there was no registration within 5 years of creation, so i'm doubtful registration now would be a help, even if a court case had any hope of meaningful success)
