The leg lock locks the position of the legs and the angle of the main
post but the post can be slid at that angle independently. I really
like mine, I had one, sold it and then purchased another as soon as I
had the chance.
I see Rob answered for me... the movement is smooth in all
directions... I found out
about benbo's reading a book years ago by nature photog Heather Angel ,
I think it was...
as I was often wishing I could shoot mushrooms and other low to the
ground flora and fauna
and keeping steady the Benbo was essential... because you can move it
around in almost any angle
