Subject: OT: what has kept me away these past few weeks

So after I returned from my trip back home to Chicago to attend the funeral of my oldest friend and stay with her family a few days, O shuffled off to Detroit and Toronto... I did post before that I got to see Christine nd Paul S and Knarf - and I have to tell you all how
much they were a comfort ...

After I got home, there were a few um adventures..

Firstly, in addition to grieving, I lost my roomate to her boyfriend -- not surprisijng, but didnt think it would happen so fast - that actually was known before I left for Chicago, but she didnt move out until Nov 1st... this was more than a financial shock because while she still has the store across the street and we visited briefly every day , she is now only working in the store itself two days a week... - and Id gotten in the habit of briefly stopping by the store for a quick hello and exchange of news in person that was always cheering... she has partnered up with 3 other women and they alternate store duty.

This also meant there were household chores she helped with that I was left to do on my own - and I attempted things I should not have done alone... to wit... when I got Luka's wonderful photo I was eager to get it up on the walls and was switching things around and reframing etc to accomodate it... I was standing on the couch.bed in the livingroom - lost my balance, and stopped my self from falling all the way to the floor somehow by swiveling around and coming down hard on my right shin on the wooden chair next to couch. a bit painful, though not quite as debilitating as it might have been...

Then in one day (two weeks ago exactly, actually) I managed to have one of those good news, bad news days... Good news - the last box of things Barb's daughter sent me from Chicago (my inheritance kind of) arrive in the morning so I put on new sneakers and made the bedroom look beautiful with the new comforter.... and perused bits of nostalgia

Bad news - I fell down on the cement and bruised my ribs, right under my left boob , on the side of my body that already has lowered range of motion - I was relieved I didnt break anything and continued to the store -- bad idea.. ice when home.. It was the worst physical pain I've felt in years. and the rally annoying thing was, I had to sleep on the couch in the livingroom as a result because I couldnt climb up into my bed that was now looking so spiffy.... I was finally able to manage it a couple of nights ago...

Good news... I won $50 on a scratch ticket! which is the amount Kate would ahve paid me for a week.

Bad news _ I got the blood work from my doctor... Cholesterol went up, etc... so now I'm struggling to be a good girl with diet . a couple of other things looked a bit off so I'm trying not to eat wicked things and will get tested again before the end of the year so it is covered by this years deductable. And I got instructed to get a blood pressure machine .

So that Saturday wasnt much fun... since then, I was in a funk for a while.. still am, really, although I'm healed enough now
so that I can and have taken long walks .

Can't do any shooting... hurts to hold the camera up to my eye

On the other hand, I have a rent controlled apartment and a lot of nice friends...

So now I'll try to return to my usual wise-cracking silly self for the benefit of all... will someone start a nice pun thread?
