Yes. An umbrella would work just fine. I've also used two umbrellas and monolights for stage pics.. Still relatively simple and better yet. But Boris needs something extremely simple and inconspicuous for this children's show. A diffuser will suffice. Or, if he gets his K-5, he can probably handle it with available light. Paul
Paul, et al, the show already happened. That is, its grand rehearsal. I couldn't attend the show itself due to other arrangements. I was asking my question as the post factum work on errors.
I will "pay a long visit" to e-Bay and buy me some goods to try. I noticed two types of diffusers, by the way:
* one that looks like a plastic cup of some form that probably makes the light source somewhat bigger and somewhat softer
* one that looks like a screen of various sizes in front of the main flash light source
I'll probably end up buying both 'cause they are inexpensive and play with them.
I used to have the bounce card that I used /a lot/ with older Pentax flash that I used to have. The flash would only tilt and wouldn't swivel whereas the bounce card was the solution of that problem.
When I upgraded to Metz 40 MZ-2 I kind of bumped into these shadows but I did not pay too much attention to them. Now I am all the wiser :-).
