I'm curious about the particulars, e.g., if their DNA uses As in place of P, does their RNA do so as well? Is their habitat devoid of P?
I'm never surprised when a living thing takes advantage of an unfilled niche, but this development is kind of weird. It means that several questions on my final exam (given to my students Thursday and yesterday) are probably flawed now.
