I'm not sure what their plans are, I certainly hope they're not just dumping it all. I suspect there is a lot of nice rimu in there which is likely to end up being salvaged. It's illegal to harvest many native tree species so a lot of wood from demolished buildings ends up being recycled as furniture or art.
