"Full frame" is a bit of silliness. It's irrelevant. Is a 645 camera "double frame?" There are many sensor sizes. All of them are full. Paul
I am with Paul on this one. In the "middle ages" back then /wink wink/, no one called 6x4.5 cropped w.r.t. 6x6 or 6x7. Each was called medium format, whereas obviously 6x4.5 is less medium than 6x7.
Of course, the habit has it so that "full frame DSLR" is a synonym to 24x36 and "cropped camera" is a synonym to "16x24". Interestingly enough, Nikon has FX and DX and Canon has EF (x1), EF-C (x1.3) and EF-S (x1.5) (if I am not mistaken). Not sure about Sony's terms.
Yet, Paul has a point and I tend to agree with him. That however should not prevent me or Paul or anyone else from using the terms mentioned above freely. As indeed, the form of communication is secondary to its intended meaning and/or actual content.
