I don't use Blurb either. I've heard too many horror stories about the
inconsistent quality of their books. DotPhoto's EuroBook has been the best
quality photobook I've found so far.

I use iPages (Mac) for the MagCloud issues I create.

I've found it to be pretty easy to use and very flexible on what I can do
with the program. It is also a lot cheaper than most layout programs.

I haven't made Blurb books as yet. I use Apple's Pages and Aperture
applications to do photo book layouts and render to PDF. Blurb can
handle PDFs ... you can get dimensioning specifications for their
different standard layouts from them. These applications do a very
good job ... Aperture in particular has an excellent photo book layout
capability (something I'd like to see a little more of in Lightroom).

InDesign would be nice but my needs at present are such that I'm not
yet willing to spend the money for it. Perhaps in 2011.
