I said nothing about quality, only that video was an improvement. In this case, the improvement was both quality, and more to the point, convenience. Compact discs are more convenient than vinyl records in many ways. Beta died for the same reason that Royal 25 died, which was poor marketing by a complacent company. If digital becomes both an economiclly viable alternative, and more importantly, a more convenient way to get prints, then it would have a good chance to supplant consumer film use.
