Yes, the 85-210/3.5 was one of the original zooms by Pentax in K-mount.
(It may have began life as a screw mount design??!)
But Pentax didn't make many K series zooms (35-70 and 85-210).
In the M series,there was the 40-80.
In the A series there were more, but still a limited number.
In Pentax's universe, they borrowed good designs from prior series.
The F series didn't have a lot of good zooms to borrow designs from.
The F 35-135 is a new design with the F series, and suspect for that reason.
