Miscreants in these parts have discovered that they can scratch their "tag" into glass windows if they get their hands on a suitable material such as quartz or diamond.
peaking in Denver a few years ago, the big thing was to fill fat, refillable magic markers with muriatic acid and walk up and down retail areas tagging the glass; this is much more noticeable than a scratch, but also a bit easier to polish out; most businesses now try to prevent it with a plastic film up to about 7' high on their plate glass
