I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I am glad that you have your
photos to help you. My thoughts are with you and your loved ones.

I had the same thought as you many years ago when I realized that I
did not have many photos of my grandfather when he passed away. Now I am
constantly taking photos of family whenever I am with them. Many don't see
the light of day, but they are there if ever I need them. After a while the
family ignores you and you get some nice candid shots.

Your post hits the spot for me. My entry to the next PUG is of my
father. It is not a great technical shot, but it is one that carries many
feelings for me, especially after last September. He is currently in
Honduras for a month. He says it is his last trip back home. I will be
leaving on the 22nd to be with him for two weeks. I plan on documenting the
trip photographically as we work our way through the south where he grew up
and he tries to find family he has not seen in ages and he shows me his old
stomping grounds. It is a trip that I am most definitely looking forward
to. And as luck would have it the day before I come back will be his 70th
birthday!

Again my heartfelt sympathies and thank you for sharing,

                        Cesar Matamoros II
