"Viable product" may be the wrong phrase. If Pentax can cover the cost of making them then it's viable in the marketing sense. It's clearly a very effective camera from all of the actual reviews I've read. Maybe I'm thinking of the 645D being the camera of choice for certain kinds of professional photographers. Very much like the way Pentax's 645 and 67 were their professional products back in the film days. Even then they had the edge in "cost effective" MF stuff.
