Stay away from Kennyboy unless you a. want to see every reason why you should be making money with your own web site, but somehow you're not*, and b. want to buy a new monitor every week because you picked it up and smashed it on the floor because of the inanity it displayed. Really, Kennyboy didn't seem to realize what he wrote was actually often funny, until it was pointed out to him. His response has become, "I meant it to be", which I suppose is better than his being defensive...

Every once in a while a more or less reputable site such as Dpreview, TOP or Digital Resources will refer to the one of the gruesome twosome of photography, Kennyboy and RichWhine and my first though is Really! DUDE! Don't encourage them...

RiceWhine, as I said don't encourage him.

Ned has a pretty decent blog but he is the President of Pentax Marketing, (no matter what his actual title in the organization is at this point), so expect more Rah Rah than discussions on limitations, and certainly no real discussion of future developments until they are set in stone.

Mike Johnston at TOP is a Pentax believer, even though he's somewhat realistic about it. The posts are often good and informative, and he's a photographer not an equipment collector, but there have been discussions of "Forgotten Cameras", on old still usable film cameras of various manufacture. Fine print making both traditional and digital, photo book threads, pros and cons of different formats, so you might find something interesting. Though to be quite honest, he's a bit of a flake. I'm really quite surprised that his site is updated regularly as he has a problem with follow through. and quite opinionated in his spare time, I usually skip his Open Mike posts to keep from being infuriated by his utter conviction about /his/ beliefs, though if they match yours I'm sure that they will be quite reinforcing. I usually check there every day or so to see what's new. It's a general interest site so don't expect all Pentax all the time.

Not Pentax but great for lighting, is The Strobist, professional quality lighting on the tightest of budgets up to the ridiculousness expensive, but mostly on the low cost side. Really a great resource. As with most general photography sites, a question about Pentax would probably have elicited a response of "Who?" or maybe "They still around?" until relitively recently and might still make you a second class citizen.

I'll occasionally check out OK1000 sometimes the Rumors there are true, for news, the site principle may still lurk here if we didn't chase him away.

I really want to keep a very low internet profile so I don't post anywhere but here these days.

Where do, or have, you hung out online to discuss photography, and/or pentax
gear? What are the different ones like?
How worthwhile are these different fora, and to whom?

For Pentax there's PDML, Pentax forums, the pentax group on flickr, the
dpreview pentax forum, and probably a bunch of others that I don't know about.
Flickr has a wide variety of discussion fora, there's strobist, model-mayhem
and a wide range of general photo related sites.
Some are good for newbies, while others consider anyone who started doing
photography in the 21st century a newbie.
Mailing list, website, monthly meetup, where do you go to talk, learn or teach
about photography?

Are there any sites, which aren't for discussion, but still worthwhile
checking, or avoiding? Ned? The Online Photographer? Kennyboy?
unsubstantiatedwildrumors.com?
