For an update,
I had no problems going through the checkpoints at either airport (ATL &
SFO) I had no film over 400 in the bag so I just left them in there and ran
it through the machine... One roll developed so far and it looks ok to my
decidedly untrained eye. I was not asked to open my bag at all.

One interesting anecdote though: At San Francisco on the way home there was
a person with a Pelican case in front of me who was picked to have their
shoes examined. While she was away letting someone sniff her shoes (what a
job!), they hand-checked her case and were confused by what they found. The
checker didn't recognize the contents and was asking the surrounding workers
if they knew what these things were. Nobody seemed to so I chimed in
"They're microphones.". She said "Oh, OK." packed them back in the case and
sent it along. Good thing I wasn't an accomplice!
