I just try it and found the modify edge option which uses a slide bar.
 In whatever version I used to have, it was a menu option which was
never active when I thought it should be. Of course, when i finally
decide to complain I try it and it works fine.  Embarrassing but now I
know how to do it, so I guess it's a net plus.
