Ken, I liked the sloped top deck but couldn't never get comfortable with that 
big wheel/LCD used to set the shutter speed - mine was very stiff and hard to 
rotate. On the whole, I preferred the two-wheel arrangement of the PZ-1p, and 
Pentax must have agreed with me because they went back to that arrangement on 
the *ist-D.  Otherwise the MZ-S was very nice, and might have been a good basis 
for Pentax's early DSLR models.

That said, I find the K-5/k-7 to be way ahead of any previous Pentax model for 
ergonomics.  I just hope they don't bugger it up on the next high-end model.
