Pentax didn't neccessarly agree with you, but two wheels was cheaper to
build with off the shelf modules than that custom ring LCD arrangement
Plus they could could save a couple dollars per unit on each camera if
they if they dropped aperture control from lens as an option. Not to
mention that they could probably save a few 10s of dollars per lens, if
they dropped the aperture ring from the lens itself.

Just wondering how you'd compare it to the MZ-S if you had one?
Ken, I liked the sloped top deck but couldn't never get comfortable with that
big wheel/LCD used to set the shutter speed - mine was very stiff and hard to
rotate. On the whole, I preferred the two-wheel arrangement of the PZ-1p, and
Pentax must have agreed with me because they went back to that arrangement on
the *ist-D. Otherwise the MZ-S was very nice, and might have been a good basis
for Pentax's early DSLR models.
That said, I find the K-5/k-7 to be way ahead of any previous Pentax model for
ergonomics. I just hope they don't bugger it up on the next high-end model.
Regards, Jim
