she looks strong in the first, vulnerable, even scared in the second; both impressive as photographic craft, but my critique would be more about what is conveyed:
the first looks more posed in expression, perhaps a little too tense, and would be more interesting for me with a little of the vulnerability (maybe not quite head on vantage point, or eyes not directly into camera)
in the second there is a conflict between her expression and the slightly overwrought costume; i would consider reducing the illumination below the shoulders, or even a less striking outfit to avoid distracting from that vulnerability
of course if she's wanting that look of strength, you could pretty much invert my suggestions, and maybe make a more active pose in the second, though i doubt they'd be as compelling to me personally
