Thanks, Bong, Jacl and David. The locale is the open air shopping mall in the Wailea resort on Maui. We stopped for ice cream among the Tiffany, Gucci, Rolex and other high-end stores, and this cardinal came buy looking for a handout. He would land near our feet, and then, while I tried to aim my camera at him, he would fly back up to his perch, shown in this image. It is actually a large torch, which is lit in the evening.
