It apparently has something to do with the calibration of the autofocus system. Manual focus is only dependent on the accuracy of your eye and the location of the focus screen. The K-5 will also benefit from fine tuning of the autofocus. Very few lens and camera combinations are dead nuts right on off the shelf.
