I had all the versions of Photoshop from that time too, John.

If PS 7 + Camera Raw 1.0 could open DNG files, that's news to me. It
would be an undocumented feature ... not impossible, but undocumented
as PS7+Camera Raw pre-dated the first DNG release.

I've sent a note to my friends at Adobe to ask about this.
