Good point, I'll make sure I mention it in future. I'm planning to have another fiddle with the gallery software settings when I get a chance and I may have some options that could help with this. Alternatively I have considered a second gallery setup especially for PDML where I can address issues like this one and the photo sizing. > I suspect that most people who were not involved with the event will find it > too much of a struggle to plough through them all. I agree fully and I was too tired to remember to mention it last night when I posted the links. The intent of these galleries are more as a news item than an art form, and I posted it here because I don't often get out to take photos these days. > I think you need to be > more ruthless in your editing, take the point of view of the detached > photographer who is more interested in a good picture then in yet another > shot of some sweaty stranger crossing the finishing line. To get good photos of that event requires a huge commitment to scope out good spots, lots of travel on the day and a fair bit of schmoozing to get access. And even then, the entire kayak section is off limits for safety reasons. I did try to put in as much variety as I could, with people high-fiving the spectators, picking up their kids, some pics of the media circus and officials etc. Many of the sweaty competitors were major placegetters so I felt obliged to put them in... which brings home the point that I didn't really give you guys much context. I found a gallery on our local news site which show a bit more than I was able to get. Includes bike photos for Frank. Also includes inconsistent spelling of the male winner's name, but that's normal for our newspapers. http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/photos/4647776/Coast-to-Coast-competition You'll see with that scenery why I want to take a 645D with me and get out there onto the course. And also why that 32km mountain run is such a gut-buster. You're probably right that I needed to edit more. I usually try to keep galleries under 20 photos in total as I do hate it when people throw a ton of photos up. I blame the rush to get the pics up while they're still halfway newsworthy. There is an incentive to be more ruthless in Bridge as it means less time in Photoshop. But in this particular case I cannot detach myself, not this soon after the event. It's difficult to express how much awe-struck respect I have for everyone who competes in that race. It's easy to get caught up in the emotion when people have set it as their life's goal to complete the course, and to see them crossing the finish line, sometimes limping with cramp, is about as exciting as it gets for me. I have a hard enough time "just" running a half marathon...
