I'm a fairly long-time subscriber to AVG (their paid Internet Security
anti-virus plus firewall product). I switched to it back around 2003
when Norton Internet Security got to be more of a problem than a solution.

Of late, though, AVG seems to be going the same route; they can take
quite a long time to address issues, and there have been a couple of
occasions where I've had to turn a feature off for a couple of days
because until the bug got fixed AVG was chewing up vast chunks of
CPU time. Not, I hasten to point out, in the core functionality
(anti-virus and firewall). But there is creeping featurism (which
is hard to tell apart from bloatware) - link scanner, identity
protection, etc. - which sometimes trips over configuration issues.
