There is a legend that tells why that station is called that way.
One of the famous professors, Mark Aiserman (a world-reknown specialist
and an author of a textbook on analytical mechanics) was afraid to miss
his stop, and so, he was asking all the students and colleagues
who he saw entering the train to remind him about the station.
And since he was always taking the train at the same time, even the
train engineer knew that, and was announcing via PA system:
"Mark, the next station is Novodachnaya"
So, the previous station started being called "Mark".

Odd as you tell the story, Igor. I haven't studied in PhysTech myself
but somehow despite everything this story escaped me when I was there.
And I should say that it seems to me that Novodachnaya wasn't called
like this back in late 1980s-early 1990s, was it?
