yes -- mainly i was encouraging David that the messages were still available despite the loss of his local copies
as to how it gets there, mail-archive is simply a service which acts as a subscriber to receive and archive mailing list messages; _anyone_ can subscribe a list to mail-archive; it's a useful backup in case something happens to a primary archive
